As part of activities to mark the 2022 Green Ghana day celebration, the Asene Manso Akroso District Assembly in collaboration with the Forestry Commission and some students in the district on 10th June, 2022 commemorated the event at Onyame Nti Community on the them “Mobilizing for a Greener Future”
The District Chief Executive Hon. Alex Kwabena Incoom in his address encouraged the pupils and other stake holders to embark on this good initiative to protect and preserve the forest reserve of the district.
The Forestry Commissioner Mad. Linda Kokofu in her speech stated that Green Ghana day is not just a day of planting trees but rather a day of recommitting ourselves to safeguarding our natural heritage. She again said we must support sustainable forestry practices, protect our forests, and invest in reforestation efforts. We must educate ourselves and future generations about the importance of trees and the delicate balance of our ecosystem.
In attendance were the DCE, Member of Parliament Hon. George Kwame Aboagye, Forestry Commissioner Mad. Linda Kokofu, Hon. Assembly Members, students from the community among others.
