The 38th edition of the National Farmer’s Day celebration was held at Amantem Nkwanta Durbar grounds in the Asene Manso Akroso District on Friday, 25th November, 2022 on the them “Accelerating Agricultural Development Through Value Addition”.
Mr. Stephen Boadi, the District Director of Agriculture of the Assembly in his key note address expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the dedication and resilience of all hardworking farmers who toil day in and day out to feed the nation and contribute to the economic growth. He said despite the challenges they face, farmers still continue to produce food that sustains our communities and supports the country’s agricultural sector.
Mr. Boadi took the opportunity to encourage all stakeholders, including government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and private sector, to continue supporting our farmers. Investments in agriculture, training, and the provision of improved seeds and equipment are vital to ensuring the farmers thrive. He once again thanked all the farmers and urged them to continue working together to build a prosperous agricultural sector that benefits us all.
The District Chief Executive Hon. Alex Kwabena Incoom, also expressed his profound gratitude to the farmers for working tirelessly every year to provide food for every individual in the country.
Hon. Incoom stated that the theme for the celebration was very strategic as it touched on key issues confronting the nation in the Agricultural Sector, hence the government had instituted several measures to resolve post harvest and marketing issues. He again appreciated the farmers to work together to build a sustainable agricultural sector that not only feeds the nation but also creates jobs and ensures a brighter future.
Farmers who distinguished themselves in the course of the year in their farming activities were presented with awards which ranked from knapsack sprayer, cutlass, gas cylinders, fertilizer among others.
The colourful ceremony saw in attendance, Traditional authorities, DCE Hon. Alex Kwabena Incoom, DCD Gladys Asamoah Addai, Heads of departments, Assembly Members, the clergy, media and others.
