A meeting was held with all information centre owners and operators on the 11th of July, 2023 at the Asene Manso Akroso District Assembly Hall.
Some of the obligations of the information centre operators raised were that no centre should operate within the district without properly registering with the District Assembly and other regulatory agencies, and also every operator is required to pay operational fees to the Assembly in line with the fee fixing resolution. It was also raised that the operational hours for all centres should be from 5:00am to 7:00am in the morning and 4:30pm to 7:00pm in the evening with the exception of emergency announcements regarding lost of a child or relative etc.
All centres should operate in an environment with permissible noise level, and no panel discussion and phone in. Also no operator should allow their centre to be used for insult or any activity that may negatively affect the reputation of individuals or group of people.
The District Assembly’s obligation to the information centres is to support and regulate all centres to enhance their operations and also facilitate the proper organization of the centre operators.
In conclusion, it was agreed that all information centres in the district should offer free services as part of their social responsibility to their respective communities particularly making announcement relating to Education, Agriculture, Health, Environmental Sanitation, Building Regulations, Revenue Mobilization among others.
In attendance were the District Coordinating Director Mad. Gladys Asamoah Addai, District Budget Analyst Mr. Prince Adu Boafo, the District Environmental Health Officer Mr. Robert Amewuda, District Information Officer Miss Elizabeth Osei, some Information Operators, some staffs of AMADA etc
