The Ministry of Communications and Digitalisations in conjunction with the District Education Service and the Asene Manso Akroso District Assembly began a five – days period bootcamp ICT training for 30 selected girls in the district, which started from Monday the 18th to Friday the 22th of September, 2023 at the Akroso Senior High School ICT Lab. Where they will explore the world of technology through coding, Cyber Security and Website Development.
Speaking at the opening ceremony the District Education Director, was so grateful to the Ministry of Communication and Digitalization for the unique opportunity to be part of this laudable effort to inculcate the love of ICT into the girl child, he encouraged the girls to put in their maximum best in the training and come out victorious in the final competition.
Madam Mary Bamfo the Team Leader for Girls in ICT also implored the girls to aspire higher and should not limit themselves in any way to keep those dreams alive. She said they share in the girls dreams and believe they can achieve everything they put their minds to. None of the reasons for lack of women and girls in ICT indicate that it is due to biological differences. She said ICT is not a boy’s game neither is it a girl’s game it’s everyone’s game. Let’s make it a point to leave here with a renewed mind, confidence and a will to conquer the world of ICT.
