As part of activities of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, the department engages in community entry programmes, whereby they pay visits to the chiefs and opinion leaders of the community to engage them on the activities of the district assembly and the department and to discuss plans the department has for the community and district and to also gather first hand information on issues or problem the community has especially pertaining to child protection and issues that hamper community development. In such an activity, the department paid a courtesy call on the chief of Manso, OBREMPONG SINTIM OPOKU III.
The department gathered that the Manso community needed support for orphans and vulnerable children, aged without support and persons with the social and economic vulnerability column. The chief gave us his blessings and encouraged the department to carry on with its great help and support for vulnerable persons and children alike and assured the department of his readiness to support and receive the department any time they call on him.
The department assured the chief of Manso, they will be carrying out registration of orphans and vulnerable children, the aged without support and persons within the economic and social vulnerability class in order to get them supported under various social intervention packages that the government has instore for such persons.
