This year’s edition of the District Farmer’s Day Celebration came off on Friday 1st of December, 2023 at Akyem Asuosu durbar grounds on the theme ”Delivering Smart Solutions For Sustainable Food Security And Resilience“. The program was marked with Agricultural Fair and Awards. Various kinds of awards and farm inputs were given to deserving farmers whose efforts provided food, raw materials and earn foreign exchange for the district and the country as a whole.
Mr. Stephen Boadi the District Director of Agriculture in his keynote address said the theme capture the urgency and importance of embracing innovative technologies and practices to address the challenges that farmers face daily and to build a sustainable future for generations to come.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asene Manso Akroso Hon. George Kwame Aboagye addressed the occasion by congratulating the president as well as the farmers for a good job done. He entreated the youth to engage themselves in farming because it is a very lucrative business.
Addressing the occasion the DCE, Hon. Alex Kwabena Incoom also said, the theme is indeed in line with the policy of the Government which seeks for urgent need for everyone to go the extra mile to put adequate measures in place to reach and sustain food security.
The celebration was graced with the present of the Member of Parliament, District Chief Executive, District Coordinating Director, Staffs, Assembly Members, Chiefs, Traditional Councils and Community Members.
The Asene Manso Akroso District Assembly on Wednesday, 19th April, 2023 held the 1st Ordinary General Meeting of the 4th session of the 2nd Assembly at the Assembly’s Conference Hall to outline the activities and plans for the District.
The meeting commenced at 10:14am with an opening prayer by Hon. Maburuk Jaifa.
The Hon. Presiding Member(PM) welcomed members to the meeting and encouraged all Hon. Members to fully participate in the day’s agenda. The Hon. Presiding Member used the opportunity to introduce two motions submitted to him for the purpose of discussion and approval by the general house.
The Hon. Presiding Member led members through the reading, correction and adoption of minutes from previous meeting, and other formalities.
The District Chief Executive(DCE) in his address thanked God for a successful year and used the opportunity to express his gratitude to all Hon. Members, Nananom, and Heads of Departments for their unwavering cooperation and support given him in the discharge of his mandate.
In his closing remarks, the Hon. Presiding Member thanked all Hon. Members for their presence, contributions and active participation throughout the meeting. He urged them not to relax on their mandate especially in an election year such as this.
He thanked management for their cooperation during the meeting and wished everyone a safe trip back to their various towns.
Hon. Daniel K. Gyasi moved for the adjournment of the meeting and was seconded by Hon. Michael Acquaah. A prayer was offered by Hon. Bernard Acquaah and the meeting was adjourned at 5:45pm.
The 2022 budget hearing took place at Asene Manso Akroso District Assembly Hall on the 10th of October, 2022 for Municipal and district Assemblies. Asene Manso Akroso District Assembly being the host was joined by other Assemblies namely, Achiase District Assembly, Birim Central Municipal Assembly, Akyemansa District Assembly and Birim South Municipal Assembly.
In a welcome address, the host District Chief Executive Hon. Alex Kwabena Incoom described the occasion as an annual ritual that affords them the opportunity to pause and take stock of their gains, examine their challenges and take necessary steps to prioritize their needs so as to maximize the use of limited resources.
The DCE was hopeful the exercise would yield the anticipated results which among other things has to do with their achievements and challenges over the year under review and what they as MMDAs intend doing in the year 2022.
The exercise, according to Hon. Alex Kwabena Incoom will afford them the opportunity to compare notes and receive guidance from the technical teams in ensuring that their budgets and activities conform to the national guidelines and development agenda of the government.
All the five (5) Assemblies mentioned sanitation and waste disposal as well as property rates as their key challenges in the discharge of their duties.
The Head of the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) call on all the Assemblies to desist from piling a tall list of activities in their outlooks for the following year, and also desist from earmarking many projects that they would need to accomplish in a single year. He asked them to complete with an existing project before they enroll on a new one.
The Chairperson for the team said he was impressed with the way the Assemblies followed the guidelines and procedures provided to them and was hopeful they will go back and do the necessary corrections that need to be done.
In attendance were the DCE, DCD Mad. Gladys Asamoah Addai, staffs from the various Assemblies, Hon. Assembly Members, Traditional Leaders, Technical Teams from ERCC among others.
The 3rd Ordinary Meeting of the 3rd Session of the 2nd Assembly of Asene Manso Akroso District Assembly was held on the 20th of December 2022 at the Conference Hall of the Assembly.
The Hon. Presiding Member called the meeting to order and the business of the day was commenced . Minutes of the previous meeting was read and confirmed by the house with necessary corrections made.
On matters arising Hon. Presiding member continued the day’s proceedings where updates were provided on the status of the implementation of decisions made during the previous meeting.
The District Chief Executive Hon. Alex Kwabena Incoom delivered his address for the 3rd session of the 2nd Assembly, he thanked God for successful year and used the opportunity to express his gratitude to all Hon. Members, Nananom, and Heads of Departments for their unwavering cooperation and support given him in the discharge of his mandate so far. The Hon. DCE further stated that although he was aware of the current financial challenges being faced by the Assembly, tireless efforts and measures had so far been put in place by management to help improve situation.
In his address, he touched on the driving sectors of the district which included Financial Performance, Education, Security, Health, Agriculture, Infrastructure Development, Sanitation, and other Government Flagship programs.
In his closing remarks, the Hon. Presiding Member thanked Hon. Members for their presence, participation and their submissions. Lastly, he encouraged Hon. Members to endeavor to be punctual to meetings.
